Lynn and Tony’s love story is one that most locals in Jersey City are familiar with. They met online, kept it secret for a bit and then she made it public on her popular lifestyle blog, lynnhazan.com! Having followed Lynn for quite some time I knew it must be very serious since she never shared anything unless it was a permanent part of her life. I was overjoyed when they announced their engagement and humbled when they reached out to me for their wedding decor!
From the very beginning they stressed the importance of keeping things intimate and within budget. Their decor was to be a reflection of their personal style and story. Over the months we prepared together, we created a design plan that highlighted the flowers and features they were drawn too, styled specifically for the unique rooftop space they had chosen for their celebration.
Roses and gypsophila were focal blooms with other white flowers such as ranunculus, stock and bunny tails rounded out their all floral decor. Being the contemporary couple that they are, they wanted a ceremony backdrop that represented her Jewish faith with a stylish and polished aesthetic. We custom built the 4 post structure (inspired by a traditional Chuppah which represents the new home that the couple will build together) in a shadowbox style, and decorated it with lush, modern florals, flowing from top to bottom in an asymmetric design. After the Ceremony, the backdrop served as a fun photo moment for guests to enjoy with the cityscape just beyond it!
Guests dined on beautiful rectangular tables seated in novel ghost chairs. For the tabletops, we designed custom centerpieces with white flowers ‘growing’ from the cloud-like gypsophila below, styled with candlelight for an intimate feel. Lynn and Tony’s sweetheart table featured a cascade of baby’s breath that begin on the edge of the table and pooled below on the ground at their feet. As always, all of our designs are foam free and the leftover botanicals were composted to keep our process as holistic and sustainable as possible.
